INTO THE EMBROIDEROID

Bret Watkins
"Once you snap your Polaroid, you have a front row seat to witness photo chemical magic."
Bret Watkins is a Los Angeles based Polaroid photographer and embroidery artist. By exploring the relationship between memory and nostalgia, Bret employs remembrance in his daily practice through the use of Polaroid. What starts as a blank canvas, instantly morphs into a square image the world has not seen until that moment in time. A photographical snowflake if you will. "And at the root, this is my goal with my Polaroid photography; to capture a one of a kind moment, a feeling that you can hold onto forever."

Embroideroids
Embroidery + Polaroid
"Quite simply an Embroideroid is a Polaroid with the addition of embroidery thread/technique. This process allows for endless possibilities for me to add thread like a painter adds a paint stroke. I can add a stroke of color to embellish, enhance and otherwise improve about the already dreamy Polaroid canvas."
